Amidst the hustle and the chaos of a subway platform, you meet the eye of a beautiful stranger. Your brain races, your heart pounds, and you think to yourself; "If only I could muster up the courage to go up and talk to them". In that split-second, freeze-frame moment; neither of you say anything, the fleeting moment passes, and you both miss out. Subway Wall is a director's cut, a rerun, a stoppage of time; a rare and endangered opportunity to go back in time and get that moment right.
Subway Wall is melodic indie-rock with lyrics that cut straight to the heart. The track digs deep into the worlds of classic, vintage, analog synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines, including a rare, original Linn Drum; to explore the vast, dynamic layers, pulse, fast tempos, synth hooks, and catchy energy that new wave music provided in the late 70s to late 80s.
lyrics
I WROTE IT ON THE SUBWAY WALL
HOPIN' WE COULD TALK
I LEFT A NOTE AND MY NUMBER
FOR A GOOD TIME GIVE ME A CALL
YOU WERE STARING RIGHT AT ME
WITH A LOOK IN YOUR EYE
BUT I’M SHY
SO NO WORDS CAME TO MIND
YOU COULD CHANGE MY LIFE
OH YOU COULD CHANGE MY LIFE
YOU’RE ONE IN
A THOUSAND
SO I WANT THIS
TO HAPPEN
I WROTE IT ON THE SUBWAY WALL
CAUSE I DROPPED THE BALL
BUT IF YOU DIAL MY NUMBER
WE COULD CHANGE IT ALL
WE COULD DANCE IN A DANCEHALL
ALL THE WAY IN MONTREAL
WE COULD PLAY PINBALL
BABY WE COULD DO IT ALL
YOU COULD CHANGE MY LIFE
OH YOU COULD CHANGE MY LIFE
YOU’RE ONE IN
A THOUSAND
SO I WANT THIS
TO HAPPEN
YOU’RE ONE IN
A THOUSAND
WE CAN MAKE
IT HAPPEN
WAITING FOR THE PHONE TO RING
CAUSE I WANT LOVE
WAITING FOR THE PHONE TO RING
CAUSE I WANT LOVE
WAITING FOR THE PHONE TO RING
CAUSE I WANT YOUR LOVE
WE COULD DANCE IN A DANCE HALL
ALL THE WAY IN MONTREAL
OH YOU COULD CHANGE MY LIFE
YOU’RE ONE IN
A THOUSAND
SO I WANT THIS
TO HAPPEN
(WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN)
YOU’RE ONE IN
A THOUSAND
(WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN)
WE CAN MAKE
IT HAPPEN
(WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN)
WE CAN MAKE
IT HAPPEN
WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN
